Getting Started

eCampus Market is a marketplace built exclusively for the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) community. Students can buy and sell products — like phones, laptops, textbooks, fashion items, and hostel furniture — and advertise services, all within a trusted campus network.

You can browse listings and services without an account. To post a listing, save items to your wishlist, message a seller, or leave a review, you'll need to create a free account.

Yes. eCampus Market was built specifically for the UNIPORT community, so listings, services, and pricing are tailored to campus life — no clutter from unrelated cities or buyers you'll never meet.

Tap Sign Up and fill in your details, or use "Continue with Google" for a one-tap sign-up. You'll be asked to verify your email with a 6-digit code before you can post listings.

Yes — browsing, listing products, and advertising services are all completely free. There are no listing fees or hidden charges.

Buying on eCampus Market

Use the search bar at the top of any page, or browse by category from the homepage or the marketplace page. You can also sort results by newest, most viewed, or price.

Every listing shows the seller's contact details (usually WhatsApp). Tap the contact button on the listing page to reach out directly — there's no in-app checkout, so all arrangements happen between you and the seller.

Yes. Tap the heart icon on any listing or service to save it to your wishlist. You'll find all your saved items in your dashboard.

Sellers are expected to remove or mark listings as sold once an item is gone. Listings that go quiet for a long time are automatically archived. If you're unsure, message the seller before making plans to meet up.

Prices are set by individual sellers, so negotiation is entirely between you and them — just like any peer-to-peer marketplace. Be respectful, and remember most sellers are fellow students too.

Selling Products

Log in, tap the + Post button, and choose "Sell a Product". Add clear photos, an accurate title and description, your price, and your contact details, then submit — your listing goes live immediately.

You can upload up to 5 photos per listing (JPG, PNG, or WEBP, 5MB max each). Listings with clear, well-lit photos from multiple angles tend to get far more views.

Go to your dashboard, find the listing under "My Listings", and use the edit or delete option. Deleted listings are removed immediately, along with their images.

Listings can be hidden by our team if they violate our terms (prohibited items, misleading info, spam, or repeated reports from other students). Inactive listings are also auto-archived after a while to keep the marketplace fresh. You'll be notified if action was taken on your listing.

  • Use clear, well-lit photos — no blurry shots
  • Write an honest, specific title and description
  • Price competitively for a student audience
  • Verify your account — verified sellers get more trust and clicks

Illegal items, weapons, drugs, counterfeit goods, exam materials obtained dishonestly, and anything that violates university policy or Nigerian law are strictly prohibited. Violating listings will be removed and may result in an account ban.

💼

Advertising a Service

Yes. Tap + Post → Advertise a Service to list things like tutoring, laundry, hairdressing, graphic design, repairs, or any skill or campus business you run.

Set your working days and hours when creating your service listing. Your profile will automatically show an "Open" or "Closed" status based on the current time, so students know when to reach you.

Customers can leave a star rating and written review after interacting with your service. Your average rating and review count are shown on your service card, helping build trust with new customers.

Yes — submit your service for verification from your dashboard. Our team reviews genuine, active campus businesses and awards a verified badge, which appears on your listing and in the "Recently Verified" section.

Some parts of the services module are still being actively developed and polished. If you tap a feature that's not ready yet, you'll see a short "under development" notice — it's coming soon, not broken.

🛡

Verification & Trust

A verified badge means our team has confirmed the user is a genuine, active member of the UNIPORT community (or a confirmed campus business). It doesn't guarantee every transaction — always use good judgement — but it's a strong trust signal.

From your dashboard, go to "Get Verified" and submit the requested proof of identity/student status. Our admin team reviews submissions and will notify you once a decision is made.

Most verification requests are reviewed within a few days. You'll see your status update in your dashboard, and receive an email once it's approved or if we need more information.

Yes. If a verified account is later found to be misused, involved in scams, or found to have submitted false information, the badge can be revoked and the account may be restricted.

💰

Payments & Pricing

No. eCampus Market is a listing and discovery platform — payment happens directly between buyer and seller (cash, bank transfer, or however you both agree). We don't process, hold, or take a cut of any payment.

We strongly recommend inspecting an item in person before paying, especially for higher-value items like phones and laptops. Never send full payment upfront to someone you haven't verified is trustworthy.

No — posting is completely free, with no listing fees, subscription costs, or commission on sales.

Featured placement is currently curated by our team based on listing quality and activity. If paid promotion becomes available in the future, it'll be announced clearly on the platform.

🔒

Account & Security

On the login page, tap "Forgot password?" and enter your email. We'll send you a secure reset link — it usually arrives within a minute or two. Check spam if you don't see it.

This is a security measure to protect your account from repeated incorrect password guesses. Wait a short while and try again, or reset your password directly.

Yes — tap "Continue with Google" on the login or sign-up page. It's faster and means one less password to remember.

Reach out via the contact page with your account email, and our team will process your request. We're working on adding self-service account deletion directly to your dashboard.

We only share the contact details you choose to put on your listings (e.g. WhatsApp number). Your email, password, and other account details are never shown publicly. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

⚠️

Safety Tips & Reporting

Always choose a public, well-lit spot on campus — like a busy department building, the library, or a popular hostel gate — during daytime hours. Avoid isolated locations, and consider bringing a friend for higher-value exchanges.

  • Prices that are unrealistically low for the item
  • Sellers who pressure you to pay in full before meeting or seeing the item
  • Requests to move the conversation off-platform immediately with vague answers
  • Refusal to meet in a public place or show the item in person

When in doubt, trust your instincts and walk away.

Open the listing, service, or profile in question and tap the "Report" option. Choose a reason and add any details — our admin team reviews every report and takes action where needed.

Our team reviews reports as they come in. Depending on severity, this can mean removing a listing, issuing a warning, or banning an account. We don't always share the outcome publicly, but every report is looked at.

Report the user immediately through their profile, and also reach out via our contact page with as much detail as possible (screenshots, phone numbers, transaction details). If money was involved, consider reporting to campus security or the police as well.
